Safe working on hybrid and all-electric vehicles has been part of the training given to all automotive mechatronics technicians in Germany since 2013. No-one is allowed to work on these vehicles in German companies without the appropriate training and qualification.

Internationally, it is the British IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) that offers training on hybrid and all-electric vehicles and issues certificates where a test has been passed (similar to the IHK in Germany). Lucas-Nülle has been a certified training partner since 2015, allowing it to carry out tests on behalf of the IMI. Daniel Brown, Manager of the LN Academy, provides training worldwide for instructors and technicians who want to gain further qualifications. Anyone who completes their training receives two certificates, one from Lucas-Nülle and one from the IMI.

ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) is the best-known testing provider in the USA. This non-profit organisation based in Virginia works to improve the quality standards in American vehicle repair and service centres and to enhance the skills and expertise of staff working in these centres.
